The Bazaar @ Cyprus Comic Con 2016!

bazaarJust like last year, Cyprus Comic Con 2016 will be hosting a Bazaar where collectors and private sellers will be able to sell or even exchange items they created themselves, as well as pre-owned toys, video games, comics and other collectibles they wish to resell.

This year the Bazaar will take place on both days of the convention, which means interested parties will have the opportunity to choose whether they want table space for one of the two days of the event or for the whole weekend.

You are eligible to participate in the Bazaar if you are:

  • An individual who makes handmade crafts.
  • A private seller that wishes to sell his collectibles or to trade products with other collectors.
  • A private seller that wants to resell second hand collectibles.

Cost

The participation cost depends on the space required by the seller (half or full table) as well as the relevant stalls that will be set up for the purpose of the Bazaar.

More specifically, the prices are as follows:

  • Half table (0,9 x 0,8 m surface ) – 1 day – €50
  • Full table (1,8 x 0,8 m surface) – 1 day – €100
  • Half table (0,9 x 0,8 m surface ) – 2 days – €75
  • Full table (1,8 x 0,8 m surface) – 2 days – €150

Participation

Interested parties can apply to participate in the Bazaar through this form.

The deadline for submitting applications for the Bazaar is Sunday 31st of July!

Artist Profile: ToonBoxStudio

Popular YouTube artist, animator, and teacher Paris Christou (ToonBoxStudio), is returning to Cyprus Comic Con for a second consecutive year!

Paris was born and raised in London, UK and is currently residing in sunny Cyprus since 2004. From a very young age, he discovered his desire to draw cartoons which lead to building a passion for animation influenced by western art and the golden age of animation. During his high school holidays, Paris would attend animation studios doing volunteer work in exchange for studying the artists and animators work in action.

After graduating in 2D Animation at Central Saint Martins College of Arts, Paris was offered work from many animation studios in London for commercial work and animated shorts. Through out the years, his skills grew by attending many workshops and seminars in the UK and in the USA having the opportunity to learn from Disney animators and mentors like the Legendary Don Bluth.

In 2011, Paris Christou founded ToonBoxStudio.com, and also started his YouTube career which led to the creation of his pinup character “Cherry” who has generated over 120,000 fans in 188 countries that helped brand his name around the globe.

Through his YouTube journey, countless opportunities opened from all major studios, magazines, events and networks, establishing connections with the top animators and comic book artists in the industry and creating lifetime friendships with major leading YouTubers worldwide.

Shirobon @ Cyprus Comic Con 2016!

Cyprus Comic Con 2016 is proud to announce its very first Special Guest, London-born chiptune/electronic artist Shirobon!

Shirobon, aka Michael Cordedda started his career in 2006 as chiptune artist, producing music solely on a Nintendo Game Boy and went on to release a number of albums and play shows using only the handheld gaming console. He quickly became one of the UK’s leading chiptune producers, earning him a strong fan base not only in the UK but also in Europe and Japan.

In 2009, he took some time out to discover the world of modern production, learning more about the use of synthesizers and experimenting with different styles of music. He returned to the scene in 2013 with his crossover EP ‘Back Tracking‘, using sounds from Game Boy, Commodore 64 and synthesizers. Since then, Shirobon’s music has evolved into a fusion of progressive electronic and chiptune music, expanding into genres such as EDM, drum & bass, eurobeat and vaporwave.

Shirobon now plays shows all around the world and runs his own record label ‘Hyperwave Records‘. So far his label has published Shirobon’s own music as well as the debut album of chiptune Melbourne artist Jamatar (J▲M▲T▲R).

Earlier this year, Shirobon performed at his very first MAGFest (Music and Gaming Festival), a four day-long festival dedicated to the appreciation of video game music and the gaming community! You can watch his Twitch Stream video of the performance here.

While Shirobon’s music is known to be futuristic and melodic with cheerful upper synth tones, it maintains a heavy rhythm and is nothing less than infectuous!

Artist Profile: Copper Mouflon

Copper Mouflon is a second year returning artist duo from Cyprus, with a huge passion for comics and storytelling!

The collaboration between writer Christopher Demetriou and illustrator Stella Violari promises the creation of highly-artistic and highly-entertaining graphic novels that will have you thumbing for the next page (or scrolling for the next frame) with bated breath and harrowing excitement!

Writer Christopher proclaims a passion for stories of all types and genres and is always on the lookout for a good twist. When not writing stories, he enjoys contemplating the ceiling (he says it helps with creativity, or something), winning every single board game ever thanks to his ridiculously unbelievable luck with the dice, and munching on whatever’s left in the fridge.

Stella studied illustration in the UK and subsequently completed her Masters Degree in the lovely and sunny Cyprus. She has been in love with drawing ever since she could hold a pencil (proof: her mother cries every time someone mentions “white walls” at home) and she is über passionate about games (though unfortunately she cannot beat Chris at board games), comics, anime, cartoons, and movies. In short: if it comes on a screen, she will take it!

Artist Profile: Panos Kamoulakos

Talented comic book artist, Panos Kamoulakos will be joining our Featured Artists roster for Cyprus Comic Con 2016!

Panos studied Illustration at Loughborough University of England and graduated in 2008. His first published work was a one page story he illustrated for indie magazine FUTUREQUAKE in 2008. Following that, he illustrated two more stories, one for FUTUREQUAKE and one for ZARJAZ, the fanzine of 2000AD.

He currently lives and works in Athens as a freelance illustrator and teacher at Intergraphics school of applied arts. He has worked as a comic book and storyboard artist for international and local companies like Coca Cola, Unify, Vinito.gr etc. In 2015, he published his creator-owned comic MEDUSA by Comicworld Publications.
