Artist Profile: Demetris Panayides

Demetris Panayides is a young self-taught artist from Nicosia and a huge fan of comics, movies and music. For the past eight years, he has been involved in illustration, logo and flyer design. Demetres notably designed the cover for local metal band Blynd’s first full-length album, titled ‘The Enemy’ and illustrated the mascot “Rusty Goblin” for the fantasy game workshop Isengard.

In 2014, Demetres was one of the ten runner-ups of a worldwide talent hunt held by American comics publisher Top Cow and this year, his first comic Artifacts: Lost Tales #1 was published through them. Furthermore, Demetres has illustrated another comic that will be published alongside the new album of well-known power metal band Winter’s Verge.

Currently, Demetres is working on various projects to be sent to publishing companies in the US. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours and we are confident that we will see more from him again before long!

Demetres will be one of our featured artists for the second time at this year’s Cyprus Comic Con and we are very excited to have him back with us. Are you looking forward to seeing more of Demetres’ work at the convention this year? Let us know in the comments below!

Artist Applications Announcement

To all the artists that have applied to participate in Cyprus Comic Con 2015:

First of all, we are happy to announce that our team has started processing and replying to artist applications so make sure to check your inbox for your results!

The approved artists that will be showcasing their work at this year’s convention have been divided into two categories:

1) Professional or semi-professional artists that are on their way to being published or have been working on their own self-published books and comics. These artists will have their own table at the convention.

2) Upcoming, talented new artists and skilled fan art hobbyists. For this group of artists we have created an area called the Artists Corner, where they will be able to network, share knowledge and inspire each other! These artists will be given shared table space at the convention.

Please do not be disappointed if you are selected to be in Artists Corner, as both sections will have equal opportunities for promotion and you can look forward to taking part in fun drawing activities during the convention!

We believe our decision to be fair, as it will allow for more local artists to feature at the Con.

If you have any questions regarding your application or require more information, please email us at: team@cypruscomiccon.org
