Artist Profile: Andreani Soupashi

Today’s Featured Artist is Andreani Soupashi, a young upcoming illustrator from Nicosia.

Andreani “Souhashi” Soupashi was born on the 27th of April, 1998. She grew up with a pencil in her hand, drawing whatever interested her at any given moment, mostly horses and cartoons. At the age of four, she enrolled in art classes where she was taught the basic disciplines of drawing, painting and sketching. These classes lasted for eight years and helped spark her passion for design, illustration and comics.

To see more of Andreani’s work, visit her portfolio on Behance.

In elementary and high school she took small design jobs such as creating posters and illustrations for various school events and selling artwork for charity. She also designed costumes, props and sets for school plays. Her lifetime dream is to become a video game designer and she set this dream in motion while working for her GCSE exams.

For her projects, she delved into character design, scriptwriting, concept art and animation, getting a taste of the industry in the process. During this time, her love for the craft was cemented. She taught herself several programs including Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Zbrush and is currently working on some amateur programming.

This year, her journey will be taking a slight detour as she is going to study computer science, another interest of hers. Through Cyprus Comic Con, Andreani aims to show her art, gain valuable experience, meet other artists and above all, have fun!

Artist Profile: Anna Cosma

Anna Cosma is returning to Cyprus Comic Con for another year as one of our Featured Artists!

Anna is a self-taught and self-employed illustrator from Nicosia, Cyprus. Drawing has been a consistent part of her life from a very young age. After years of teaching herself and practicing, she decided to pursue art as a career rather than a hobby. She studied for a year at an art school in Nicosia, Cyprus, learning basic techniques and figure drawing, eventually moving onto developing her own style of intricate patterns and dotwork.

Follow Anna’s work on Facebook and Instagram.

Anna’s work is presented in the form of custom tattoo designs, and printed t-shirts which I have sold at various festivals here in Cyprus. Her latest project has been a yoga book illustration which will be
published in 2016, and she is currently in the process of planning and
developing her own clothing brand which will feature her designs. Her
main objective is to learn the art of tattooing, and to one day be able to tattoo her own artwork!

Artist Profile: Fares Zoghlami

Today’s Featured Artist is talented illustrator Fares Zoghlami!

Fares is 19 years old, born and raised in Saudi Arabia, half Tunisian, half British. He was mostly home-schooled and is primarily self-taught in art. His father was an architect and he inspired Fares’ passion for art and attention to detail, which is very evident in his intricate pen and pencil work.

Follow Fares on Facebook to stay up to date with his latest work!

Fares draws primarily in ink on paper, combining various styles of cross hatching, stippling and subtle shading using ball point pens. He adores any technique that uses ink and tries his best to work and experiment with all kinds of fountain pens, calligraphy nibs, ball point and technical pens as well as paintbrushes doused in ink! He sometimes also works with other mediums such as water colour, acrylic, pencils, scrapper board and screen printing, however these are often used to supplement his ink pieces.

He claims to be an avid film and television fan, averaging a film a day. Fares is also a fan of anime, graphic novels, and plain old regular novels. Ideally, any form of entertainment that tells a story, as he believes that is the most important thing a creative mind can do, portray a story in the medium they excel at. Most of his artistic creation is supplemented by excessive podcasts that cover, comedy, science or political news, or the Hamilton stage production soundtrack played on repeat.

Fares recently finished schooling, and entered the adult world, where he is taking a well-deserved gap year to spend on improving his art skills, taking commissions, and building a portfolio for university. Currently his goal is to become an animator, so he will continue to practice in order to reach that level.

Last year, Fares attended Cyprus Comic Con as an artist and the year before as an attendee and he says he is delighted to able to be a part of it again! At CCC’14-15 he was able to meet a number of talented artists and cosplayers, made new and interesting friends and he is excited to meet even more like-minded people this year.

So far, Fares has designed covers for his school yearbooks, an album cover for a local band, and is currently working on illustrations for a few books that should be out later this year. He recently exhibited his work at a gallery in Anexartisias Limassol. He is very pleased to finally get his work out there and hopes to continue to show even more new and exciting work!

Artist Profile: Philip Krentos

Cyprus Comic Con 2016 is excited to welcome Philip Krentos as one of its Featured Artists!

Philip was was born in 1992 in Nicosia, of English and Cypriot parents. He’s been drawing ever since he could first pick up a pen, and has been a gamer for as long as he can remember! He studied Architecture for three years in Nottingham, which gave him a solid design base, and as a result, he learned a lot about the creative process that goes into designing and creating experiences.

To see more of Philip’s work, visit his page on Facebook.

The subject matter of Philip’s drawings are usually videogame related; characters, places, ideas, sometimes of his own creation, sometimes not. His aspiration has always been to become a game artist. He is currently in the process of creating a game, though it won’t be ready for while. Furthermore, Philip is also interested in animation, as well as comic books and manga, and has drawn a lot of inspiration from his favourite artists, which include Hirohiko Araki, Ashley Wood, Bryan Lee O’Malley, Kentaro Miura, as well as from his favourite animation studios, like Studio Ghibli, Trigger, Madhouse, and Gainax.

Philip claims he mainly has two drawing styles; a sketchy and dark style, and a more bright and humorous style, which sometimes he mixes together, but it depends on piece to piece, and usually the influences are fairly clear, or at least so he thinks!
