THE WRITER

Christopher Demetriou, proclaims a passion for stories of all types and is always on the lookout for a good twist. When he’s not writing stories, he’s either consuming them or contemplating the ceiling; he says it helps with creativity or something.

Stella Violari, studied illustration in the UK and has finished her MA in Cyprus. She uses both traditional and digital media for her drawings and likes to show beauty through unconventional ways. If she’s not holding a pen in her hands she’s probably playing video games.

Anastasia Kozlova

Anastasia Kozlova is returning back for Cyprus Comic Con 2019 Artists’ Alley!

Born in Latvia and raised on the shore of the non-freezing port of the Baltic Sea, Anastasia moved to Cyprus with her family approximately 6 or 7 years ago. As a child, around the age of eight years old, she attended private classes taught by a local artist. That did not last long – the artists’ dog was not quite as fond of an enthusiastic young girl as you would expect it to be. Therefore art became a hobby and English along with normal school subjects became priority. Fortunately, if art lives within you, it never leaves.

There were doodles in class notebooks, copy sketches from local shop supplies of W.I.T.C.H. magazines and finally, a music channel that showed “Chobits” and “Chrono Crusade” in the evening. Later came Internet and the wonders of Studio Ghibli along with more doodles in class notebooks. Anastasia can remember well, that no one could really figure out whether to shout at her, because her grades remained good, while half of her notebooks looked like manga! Somehow, it never became a job, though. She is completely self-taught in art. Meanwhile, she established an Instagram profile and YouTube channel. She is currently working on a story with original characters and filming sketchbook reviews in Russian and English and is part-time designing tattoos, planning to start learning how to “draw” on skin too.

Anna Miltiadou

We want to welcome Anna Miltiadou to Cyprus Comic Con 2019 Artists’ Alley!

Anna studied Graphic & Advertising Design and furthered her education by earning a Masters in Illustration. Her work is colourful and cheeky and is inspired by her everyday surroundings, pop culture and everything over, under and in between. The main project she’s been working on is her little Brainfarts.. I mean BrainFKRs. In the future she’d like to create small stories of those BrainFKR characters. They just need to stop bothering her all the time and let her think; they tend to be quite annoying…

Make sure to follow Anna’s Instagram to see more of her work!

Andreani Soupashi

Andreani Soupashi is returning back for Cyprus Comic Con 2019 Artists’ Alley!

Andreani is a Cyprus-born freelance artist, currently living in the UK. She grew up with a pencil in her hand, drawing whatever interested her at any given moment, mostly horses and cartoons. At the age of four, she enrolled in art classes where she was taught the basic disciplines of drawing, painting and sketching. These classes lasted for eight years and helped spark her passion for design, illustration and comics. In elementary and high school, she took small design jobs such as creating posters and illustrations for various school events and selling artwork for charity.

She also designed costumes, props and sets for school plays. Her lifetime dream is to become a video game designer and she set this dream in motion while working for her GCSE exams. For her projects, she delved into character design, scriptwriting, concept art and animation, getting a taste of the industry in the process. During this time, she taught herself several programs including Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and ZBrush. Her art style evolved, transforming from colour to atmospheric greyscale, but her passion for painting fantasy creatures and fierce warriors never wavered. At this point in time, Andreani is in her third year of her Computer Science degree, spending long hours on her dissertation and assignments. In the sparse time she has for drawing, she focuses on improving her work, discovering new techniques and tackling challenges that will help make her a better artist.

Heba Rena Yassin

We are pleased to welcome back illustrator Heba Rena Yassin to our Artists’ Alley!

She studied BA Fine Art at the University of Hertfordshire and later graduated with an MA in Digital Art and Design at the University of Nicosia, where she further developed her passion for digital art. Subsequently, Heba moved back to London to start her life and career.

She loves cats, ball jointed dolls, Japanese food and bubble tea! Her work is very much influenced by Japanese art and culture. She has always been interested in Character Design, Narrative and Illustration. She enjoys creating her own comics, character designs and illustrations based on her own or other people’s stories. Heba’s aim is to convey important and powerful messages through her work, relevant to the world we live in. She says that the most rewarding thing for her is managing to convey emotions to the viewer. She truly believes that ‘‘Progress is the consequence of internal conflict’’. The harder we work the more we progress, and the better our work becomes. For Heba, art is a very rewarding and enjoyable field of work, despite the difficulties and competition faced.

Visit Heba’s page on DeviantArt for more images of her work.

Currently she is very much interested in Japanese fashion. In her spare time, she likes to make her own jewelry inspired by J-fashion and has launched a little online shop, ‘FairyCakez’, where she sell her creations. She recently worked as a volunteer at London Craft Week 2017, which was an invaluable experience for her, as she got to see work by different creators and help out at the event as well. In 2015, Heba worked as a character designer and comic page creator for Tag2 Team Studios, while in 2016, she created a short comic entitled ‘SAM’, pubished by WriteCY, a creative writing joint, in collaboration with a writer, for ‘The Comic Book Project’. She has worked as an artist assistant to artist Christopher Christou during her studies in 2013. Her duties included canvas repair, mould making and casting.

Furthermore, she also participated at Malta Comic Con 2015, and Limassol Art Festival 2015. She has self-published a comic entitled ‘KOKORO’ inspired by Japanese anime and manga in 2016 and wrote an article for Bibliophilia magazine, ‘Mapping of Galleries in Limassol’ in 2014. She feels honoured and blessed to be part of Cyprus Comic Con and hopes to continue to be a part of it in the future as well.
