Iryna Bodnaruk

Iryna Bodnaruk was born and raised in Ukraine. She completed her studies there in art college and then more training at a printmaking academy. She moved to Limassol, 6 years ago, where she is currently based.

Iryna has been working as a freelance illustrator for quite some time now. Most of her illustrations are for young children. Some of her clients include: Scholastic NY, Fisher Price, Cowley Robinson, Glottogon Books, Glowberry Books, Sequel Creative, Highlights for Kids.

We were very impressed with Iryna’s clever way of incorporating real-life photographs with her illustrations. We are confident that her vibrant use of colours will definitely catch your eye and we are really pleased to feature more children’s illustration at our convention this year!

Cyprus K9 Rescue @ CCC’15

At this year’s Cyprus Comic Con Con there’ll be a special booth set up by Cyprus K9 Rescue fully dedicated to a geek’s best friend! It is a non-profit organization which takes care of homeless dogs and helps them in finding a new family and forever home. Cyprus K9 Rescue will be there to register new members to their club and also to take donations to help cover their running expenses such as renting kennels or buying of dog food.

Cyprus K9 Rescue was founded in Nicosia in 2014. Their prime objective is to develop and raise societal awareness about the state of rights and welfare for animals in Cyprus. This includes educating people about how best to care for animals and constantly striving to change society’s current mentality on the subject until animals can coexist with humans in true harmony.
In order to achieve their objectives, their members and volunteers are involved in various activities such as:
  1. The maintenance of a small shelter which takes care of strays and treats sick or injured dogs – ultimately helping them find a family and forever home.
  2. Collaboration with like-minded animal welfare organisations in Cyprus and abroad.
  3. Building and maintaining good relations and partnerships with various local & international governmental and non-governmental departments/agencies/organisations that may be able to help or contribute in some way.
If you would like to contribute to this effort too, you can!
  1. Temporarily host puppies or dogs before they’re flown to their new forever home.
  2. Donate any used or new blankets, carpets, clothes, towels, bowls, straps, dog houses and beds.
  3. Donate any dog food, canned or dry, as long as it’s fresh!
  4. Become a member or supporter of the club.
  5. Spread the word about animal protection, rights and welfare.
  6. Most importantly make sure you neuter your animals and install a microchip if you have not already done so!

EUC Scholarship: Vote for the winner!

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED – RESULTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED ONCE PROXIES/BOTS/AUTOMATED VOTING HAS BEEN CLEARED FROM THE RESULTS

The team of Cyprus Comic Con announced an Art competition with a prize of a one year full scholarship in Graphic Design from the European University Cyprus.

The competition ran from 29 July to 14 August. Nine contestants submitted a photo or a scanned image of one piece of artwork they had created exclusively by themselves.

They were free to choose their own topic and design something that belonged to any of the following categories: Graphic Design / Illustration / Painting / Sculpture / Design comics

Now YOU, the public is invited to vote which of the nine submissions deserves to win the scholarship!

The winner will be decided after we add up the results of the online voting (which will count towards 30% of the total vote) and the Cyprus Comic Con Art Committee (70% of the total vote).

The voting will start today, August 18 and finish on Sunday, 23rd of August.

The winner will be officially announced on Saturday 29th of August, at Cyprus Comic Con!

Το Cyprus Comic Con ανακοίνωσε την προκήρυξη διαγωνισμού σχεδίου με βραβείο μια πλήρη Υποτροφία ενός έτους στις Γραφικές Τέχνες, προσφορά από το χορηγό μας, το Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου.

Ο διαγωνισμός έτρεξε από τις 29 Ιουλίου μέχρι τις 14 Αυγούστου, με εννέα συνολικά ενδιαφερόμενους να εκδηλώνουν συμμετοχή, υποβάλλοντας μια φωτογραφία ή μια σαρωμένη εικόνα από ένα έργο τέχνης που έχουν ήδη δημιουργήσει αποκλειστικά οι ίδιοι.

Το θέμα ήταν ελεύθερο και περιλάμβανε τις ακόλουθες κατηγορίες: Γραφιστική / Εικονογράφηση / Ζωγραφική / Γλυπτική / Σχεδιασμό κόμικς.

Τώρα, ήρθε η σειρά του κοινού, το οποίο καλείται να ψηφίσει ποια από τις εννέα υποβολές αξίζει να κερδίσει την υποτροφία!

Ο νικητής / τρια θα επιλεγεί με βάση την online ψηφοφορία (30% της συνολικής ψήφου) και Επιτροπή του Cyprus Comic Con (70% της συνολικής ψήφου).

Η ψηφοφορία θα αρχίσει από σήμερα, 18 Αυγούστου και θα τελειώσει στις 23 Αυγούστου.

Ο νικητής / τρια θα ανακοινωθεί επίσημα στις 29 Αυγούστου κατά τη διάρκεια του Cyprus Comic Con!
