Geekotopos is an open-source collaborative hive specializing in bringing creative freelancers together in a co-working environment. Filmmakers, graphic designers, video gamer developers, comic book artists and anyone who works in storytelling mediums can join and take residency in GeekOtopos to develop current and future projects.

The collaborative offers pre-production development assistance for low-budget feature films, shorts, documentaries video games, graphic novels and TV shows for festival circulation, potential Cinema, Web and Video-On-Demand distribution.

GeekOtopos is also an on-line geek-media aggregator with its own YouTube channel focusing in all things Geeky: Movies, Tv Series, Comic Books, Video Games and Gadgets. Through the channel, GeekOtopos residents can also create specialized content. Its social media pages acts a news hub for all geek-culture matters and also feature special reports on nerdy local events.

As a content creator, GeekOtopos focuses on alternative media creation and projects targeted at pop-culture enthusiasts and not only. Film, VOD, web, video game and app productions using our talent pool of GeekOtopos residents and off-side partners for personal or corporate projects. GeekOtopos is both a place and mind-set where you are not constrained by routine and creativity blocks. We aim at networking and stimulating freelance and small business creatives to create and distribute amazingly cool geeky things.

At this years Cyprus Comic Con, GeekOtopos co-produced CCC16 official trailer and will sponsor the Film Festival section by giving a price of 2500€ in production services to the director of the winning local short film. Furthermore, through out the 2-day event they will be live-broadcasting the highlights of the convention to Facebook and YouTube with special guest interviews and audience reactions!

Special Guest: Luca Pizzari

LUCAS (1)Cyprus Comic Con is proud to announce comic book artist Luca Pizzari as one of our esteemed Special Guests for CCC16!

Luca discovered comics and fell in love with the art of the Kubert Family (among others) when he was 9 years old and decided he wanted to do comic books for a living straight away. He never looked back once and has been drawing ever since!

Now, much to his mother’s dismay (!), he is a full-time comic book artist based between London, Rome and Rio de Janeiro.

After a pretty useless – according to Luca – Master’s Degree in Illustration from the Camberwell College of Arts (part of the University of the Arts, London), and A LOT of time alone locked in his room drawing, he got his first few comic jobs in the Irish scene, of all places, with the 3-issues mini ‘Glimmer Man‘ for Atomic Diner and the O’Brien OGN Queen of Storms.

Soon after, a life changing encounter with Marvel artist Ed McGuinness and editor Nick Lowe brought him his first Marvel assignment, the ‘Spider-Man Special 2015‘, followed by a year-and-half-long stint on ‘Secret Wars Journal #1‘, the ‘Secret Wars: Red Skull‘ mini series, and the ‘Black Knight‘ series which closed with issue #5.

Luca is currently drawing the ‘Sons Of Anarchy: Redwood Original‘ prequel comic series for BOOM! Studios.

Bus Tickets Information

Buses from Paphos & Limassol will be available on both Comic Con dates, to take you to and from the convention venue at Filoxenia Conference Centre, Nicosia.

The following ticket prices are per day and include the return journey. There are no one-way tickets being sold as this is a fixed rate. Buses will arrive directly to Filoxenia. Please note that for arrival on Saturday and departure on Sunday you will need to purchase both a Saturday ticket and a Sunday ticket.

Timetable:

Paphos bus sets off at exactly 09:00AM.

Limassol bus sets off at exactly 10:00AM.

 

At night, all the buses will leave for the return journey to the other cities at the following times:

On Saturday the return journey will begin at 20:00 (8PM)
On Sunday the return journey will begin at 21:00 (9PM)

Antiquarian World

Antiquarian_Logo_Compass PNGOne of the participating stores for this year’s Comic Con is Antiquarian World!

Antiquarian World is not your classic antique or modern art shop. It’s a concept, a philosophy; Antiquarian World is a physical aesthetic representation of the fantasy and fictional sub-genre inspired by 19th-century steam power, elegance and romanticism with a modernity spin to it. At Antiquarian World they create custom steampunk creations such as industrial lighting, ornaments and jewellery. They are also specialised in bar interior decoration and custom industrial creations used in such settings.

Some of their projects include lighting for Farma Project, Custom bar equipment for Palia Pineza, interior decoration for houses and shops.

There will be two Steampunk handicraft workshops in Kyrenia lecture theatre each day of the convention. Saturday 13:00 and 16:00 and Sunday 13:00 and 16:00. During each workshop a small group of volunteers from the audience will have the opportunity to build their own steam punk accessories hands-on.

Gioco Libero – Cyprus Throwdown Tournament Series

Three of the gaming tournaments to participate in at this year’s Comic Con are Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat XL.

The tournaments are organised by Gioco Libero and Cyprus Throwdown Tournament Series. 

This year both the gaming tournaments and their prizes will be bigger and better!

Aside from the prizes that have already been announced, there will likely be prizes for the 4th and 5th place in the tournaments and even small prizes for lucky spectators!

Schedule:ct1 2

Saturday 14:00 – 16:00: Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Sunday 10:00 – 13:00: Street Fighter V
Sunday 13:00 – 15:00: Mortal Kombat XL

The tournament will have the form of Elimination, Best of Three Rounds. The player that wins two matches proceeds and the loser is eliminated.

 

Participating fee:
  • 10 euros per tournament
  • 15 euros for two tournaments

 

 

Regulations:

1.All games will be played on the default settings, unless otherwise specified, below.

2. Players must provide their own controller for games played on all systems. In case a player does  not bring their own controller, default controllers will be provided that may not fulfill the player’s requirements.

3. Players that arrive late to the tournament or don’t appear in time for their match will be eliminated.

The tournaments will be livestreamed through YouTube, Twitch και Facebook!

Gioco Libero is from now on the home of Cyprus Throwdown Tournament. The internet café is located in Limassol and has state of the art stations for PC and console gaming!
