Smar

We want to welcome talented artist Smar to our Artists’ Alley!

Smar lives in Athens, Greece, is constantly trying to organise her life, and frequently wonders if she’ll ever be ready for the responsibilities of a cat. She has illustrated a children’s book about different types of families, uploads a new page of her webcomic Home Queer Home every Wednesday, and is mostly known for her “OMG Lesbians!” comics.

You can see more of Smar’s work on her behance page, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram and Twitter.

Thodoris Thou

The Cyprus Comic Con wants to welcome Thodoris Thou to CCC19 Artists’ Alley!

Thodoris is a self-taught sculptor and ceramist. He was born in Paphos but he moved to Nicosia when he was a child. He is mostly figurative sculptor but he also makes functional ceramics too, such as mugs plates, spoons pitches, tea pots etc. His inspiration comes primarily from pop culture; famous movie characters and iconic creatures and monsters! The Greek mythology is another source of his inspiration.

Thodoris has a special bond with nature and animals and a lot of the time he uses that on his work. He has been working with clay since 2006 and he uses stoneware clay mostly. All his sculptures are covered with underglazes, stains and glazes and are fired multiple times in an electric kiln with final temperatures 1200 – 50c degree. His studies background has nothing to do with clay; he went to Athens for 3 years studying animation in a private collage. Sometimes he sees that part of himself in his work, nothing is wasted!

You can visit Thodoris’ Instagram to see more of his work!

Nicos Nipat

We are excited to have Nicos Nipat joining us for CCC19 Artists’ Alley!

Nicos is a self-taught cartoonist from Cyprus who uses traditional media such as ink and watercolours to offer a funny take on everyday situations. Growing up, the margins of Nicos’ school books were covered in pencil doodles. As an adult he’s constantly amazed at how someone’s feelings can be transferred and expressed on paper and then communicated to others.

In the past he took part in the creation of comic books through a collaboration with WriteCy and he is always looking for opportunities and good stories to work on! Being an artist that’s serious about improving his skills, Nicos can be seen around town carrying a sketchbook and pen that he uses for observational drawing of unsuspecting bystanders, capturing their souls in his sketchbook forever! Careful, you could be next!

To see more of Nicos’ work, you van visit his Instagram and Facebook.
