Approtis

Fares Zoghlami, better known in the art world as Approtis, is a self-taught illustrator and comic artist with a lifelong passion for drawing. Growing up with an architect father, Fares mastered the intricacies of perspective and shading early on, constantly switching between traditional and digital mediums to express his creativity.

This past year has been a whirlwind of activity for Fares. He’s taken on exciting projects like the board game “BOS,” “Dredged Devils,” and has continued to expand “Troopers” and “RedHack.” Amid these endeavours, he launched “Cult of the Head,” an art agency company representing a significant leap forward in his professional journey.

Fares’s artistic inspirations remain as diverse as ever, with a particular nod to the talents of Simone D’Armini, Fiona Staples, and Bryan Lee O’Malley. His work, especially noted for its distinctive “confetti hatching” technique, continues to evolve, drawing admirers from across the globe.

His fantasy card game is making strides, with public playtests slated for this year. Despite not starting any new collaborations, Fares is busier than ever, juggling client projects with the same dedication and zeal.

The completion of new editions of “Troopers” and “RedHack” is a testament to his continued popularity and demand online. Despite the logistical challenges of splitting his time between Limassol and Nicosia, not to mention his commitments to a day job, Fares balances his professional workload with personal time for gaming and art projects.

Looking ahead, Fares is excited about expanding his skill set into areas like concept art and 3D modelling. His dreams include growing “Cult of the Head” into a full-fledged business and delving deeper into the gaming industry.

Last year’s Comic-Con was a reminder of the joys of reconnecting with the community. Fares is eager to replicate that experience this year, ready to meet more people and immerse himself again in the celebration of geek culture.
