Featured Artist: Christiana Efthimiou

Christiana Efthimiou she was born in Cyprus and a student at Technological University of Cyprus. She is a 18-year old artist, who specializes in colored pencils and digital drawing. Her art has a variety of styles, going from monster (Kaiju) – designing to drawing dark and depressing pieces that show a certain meaning.

Her main style is drawing artwork based on emotions and meanings – usually sad, happy, nostalgic and with that she wants to make people think and come up with perspectives of their own when they see one of her works.

christiana_2For Cyprus Comic Con, she will have two three samples of each different style, and some digital fan art as a tribute to the event.

Η Χριστιάνα Ευθυμίου γεννήθηκε στην Κύπρο και είναι φοιτήτρια του Τεχνολογικού Πανεπιστημίου του νησιού μας. Είναι 18 ετών και ειδικεύεται στα χρωματιστά μολύβια και στη ψηφιακή ζωγραφική. Η τέχνη της έχει διάφορα στυλ, από το σχεδιασμό τεράτων (Kaiju) και διάφορων σκοτεινών, θλιβερών κομματιών που έχουν ένα συγκεκριμένο νόημα.

Το βασικό της στυλ στη δουλειά της βασίζεται στα συναισθήματα και τα νοήματα – συνήθως λυπημένα, χαρούμενα, νοσταλγικά, με σκοπό να κάνει τον κόσμο που βλέπει τα έργα της να συνδεθούν μαζί τους, με το δικό τους τρόπο.

Στο Cyprus Comic Con θα έχει δύο με τρία δείγματα δουλειά της από κάθε διαφορετικό είδος καθώς και fan art, ως φόρο τιμής στη διοργάνωσή μας.

Cosplay Frequently Asked Questions

I’m a cosplayer and I want to take part in the cosplay contest. How do I apply?

  • Register online right here right now!
  • or you can visit the cosplay registration desk on the event day (until 2pm)

Either way, you have to present yourself at the desk by 2pm the latest otherwise you lose your chance to compete!

lioncatBut what will I have to do as a contestant?

There will be three stages to it:

  • The private judging starting at 2pm. All of you will be escorted outside the “judges’ headquarters” where you will enter one by one to present your costume and character as well as you can! Not to worry though, this is not an exam of any sort, the judges will be a small group of chill happy people who rumour has it, gives out candy.
  • The cosplay parade will take place on the main stage at 5pm. All contestants will be called and presented on stage for a brief chance to show off your haute couture costume or dance the robot or just stand there awkwardly and wave at your mum. The presenters will make sure to nudge you in the right direction with their commentary.
  • The winner announcements and consequent prize-giving will happen right after the parade finishes. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you will be called on stage and given something very, very, veeeery nice (hint hint hint – to be announced soon!).

I’m a cosplayer but I don’t want to take part in the contest. Do I have to inform anyone or register?

Nope, simply come to the event like any other person would. Just be advised that the cosplay rules still apply to you too. So if you are carrying a weapon or wearing spiky things, come by the registration desk to get approval otherwise we’ll hunt you down and eat your brains.

I’m a cosplayer who’s not participating in the contest but I want to take part in the parade. Is this possible?

It sure is! Just come by the registration desk and make sure to let us know of your intention!

 

Featured Artist: Phaidon Nicola

phaidon1 Phaidon Nicola was born in Cyprus, on December 3rd 1989. He is currently a student at the University of Fine and Applied Arts in Salonica, Greece.
His work is focused in sculpting but he also loves drawing as well. He draws using both digital and traditional medium.
He comments about his work: “If i’m being honest with my self i can’t say i accomplished anything of importance yet but i’m doing my best to do so. Ο Φαίδων Νικόλα γεννήθηκε στην Κύπρο, στις 3 Δεκεμβρίου 1989. Είναι φοιτητής στο Πανεπιστήμιο Καλών και Εφαρμοσμένων Τεχνών της Θεσσαλονίκης. Η δουλειά του επικεντρώνεται κυρίως στην γλυπτική, αλλά και σε σχέδια, χρησιμοποιώντας τόσο τα παραδοσιακά, όσο και τα σύγχρονα μέσα.

“Εάν θέλω να είμαι ειλικρινής με τον εαυτό μου, δεν μπορώ να πω πως έχω πετύχει κάτι σημαντικό ακόμη, όμως κάνω ό,τι καλύτερο δυνατό για να το πετύχω. Πιστεύω το όνειρό μου είναι μια μέρα να καταφέρω να μπω στο χώρο του κινηματογράφου, για να δημιουργώ τέρατα για τα ADI ή τα Stan Winston στούντιο”.
