At the age of 5, Nicolas showed great skill in freehand drawing, with emphasis in the depiction of animals, that have always been an irreplaceable part of his life. During his childhood and adolescence, he attended painting and sculpture courses at various art workshops, while in high school he graduated in graphic arts.
To see more of Nicolas work, find him on Facebook.
In 2000, he entered the ASFA (Athens School of Fine Arts) where he studied painting and printmaking and after graduating with a grade of “excellent”, his diploma was recognised as equivalent and corresponding respectively to a “masters” degree by KYSATS. (Cyprus Council of Recognition of Higher Qualifications).
Having exhibited in both Cyprus and Greece, he now maintains a workshop where he teaches painting and other forms of artistic expression to people of different ages and helps students prepare for their entrance exams.
In his latest drawings (pencil) a surreal trend is being manifested, which, based on spontaneous expression on no account bound by logic, deals with elements (memories/experiences) which for years had remained locked in the bottomless drawer of the unconscious.
Meanwhile, having brought back to his everyday life a childhood friend, the caricatura, he depicts famous personas mainly from movies and sports.
Nicolas also loves Greek music – by the age of 10 he could play musical instruments (bouzouki and tzouras) and in recent years he has been playing at various cafes-ouzo bars and restaurants.

That’s right, Cyprus Comic Con 2015 is going to be epic!
We are thrilled to announce that popular local power metal band Winter’s Verge will be performing LIVE on the Filoxenia Conference Centre stage, with a special set introducing their fourth full-length album!
The band is known for its energetic live performances and their fantasy narrative lyrics that paint mythical worlds of darker times.
Along with the release of their latest album, the group also released a short comic written by frontman George Charalambous and illustrated by comic book artist Demetres Panayides.
Winter’s Verge are one of Cyprus’ most successful metal bands. Since their formation in 2005, they have released 3 full studio albums and built a strong reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in Cyprus, with their powerful blend of epic, melodic and symphonic metal. The band is made up of 5 of the most experienced and respected musicians in the Cypriot rock and metal scene – George Charalambous on vocals, Harrys Pari and Andy Kopriva on guitars, Miguel Trapezaris on bass and Danny Georgiou on drums.
Be sure to visit Winter’s Verge’s website and follow them on Facebook.
2006 brought us Another Life, Another End, the band’s first full-length demo album, which caused a stir in the metal scene. This led to the band attracting the attention of European record labels, eventually signing on with LMP in 2008 for the release of Eternal Damnation.
Recorded, mixed and mastered in Germany under the guidance of RD Liapakis (Mystic Prophecy, Valley’s Eve, Devil’s Train) and expert sound engineer Christian Schmid, ‘Eternal Damnation‘ brought the band many new fans and helped push the bar higher in terms of performance and composition. Fan favourites from this album, such as the instantly catchy ‘To You I Sail Tonight’ and ‘Eternal Damnation’ still feature in the band’s live sets to this day.
Winter’s Verge then signed onto Massacre Records in 2010 for their second full album – ‘Tales of Tragedy‘. With new drummer Chris Ioannides, the band explored ever more epic, melodic and technical avenues, and the reception by both fans and the metal press was even greater. Standout tracks include ‘The Captain’s Log’, ‘I Swear Revenge’, ‘Old Man’s Wish’ and the relentlessly epic ‘Reflections of the Past’. A European tour with power metal legends Stratovarius followed, winning thousands of new fans and establishing the band’s position as one of the most exciting new melodic metal acts on the European scene.
Tales of Tragedy was then followed by 2012’s Beyond Vengeance. The band focused on a harder, heavier sound, not forgetting their epic and atmospheric roots. The heavy, groovy ‘Dying’, the crunching ‘Not Without A Fight’, the eerie and brooding ‘Cunning Lullabies’, the ferocious ‘Unto the Darkness’ and the all-encompassing, symphonic, album-closing epic ‘Semeni’ helped make this album one of the most highly-regarded releases of Massacre Records’ year. This album was highly praised by critics for its focused sound and memorable riffs and melodies, as the technicality and complexity of Winter’s Verge’s music continued to deepen.
Winter’s Verge went through some lineup changes in 2013, with longtime keyboardist Stefanos Psillides and drummer Chris Ioannides taking their separate ways.
The highly technical and capable Danny Georgiou came in on drums, bringing with him a fresh burst of energy with his extreme metal background, and the experienced and respected Andy Kopriva bringing a second guitar to the band’s sound.
The follow up to Beyond Vengeance was unleashed onto the metal public last month! With the new lineup now settled, exciting live prospects confirmed and the members hungry to return to full activity, the new record “Winter’s Verge – IV” will push the band even higher up the scale of melodic, epic metal.
Copies of their album will be available for purchase together with the new “Winter’s Verge IV” t-shirt, at the band’s booth at the convention.
We hope you are all looking forward to a very special live performance by Winter’s Verge at Cyprus Comic Con 2015, on the 29th of August!
Make sure to stay tuned for an out of the box, up close and personal interview with the Winter’s Verge members, where we get them to talk about their favourite comic books, video games and movies!
In the meantime, here’s some videos to get you hyped!
