Cosplay Workshops 2016 have began!

Only around 100 days left until the third installment of Cyprus Comic Con and the planning procedures for the upcoming event are currently under way with top speed!

Last Saturday (21/05), on the premises of Gamers’ Boulevard in Digenis Akritas Avenue in Nicosia, the second cosplay workshop was held with over 20 aspiring cosplayers participating, while the first introductory workshop a week before, was open for all cosplay enthusiasts and more than 40 people attended! The second workshop was more focused on materials and pattern-making and the participants got to interact with and customise different types of block foam, polystyrene and thermoplastic.

The purpose of these meetings is to aid those interested in participating in this year’s cosplay contest with a fully handmade costume. During the seminar workshops, the participants receive personalised advice and feedback to help them perfect their cosplay costume to the best quality possible. Furthermore, they get to do it in a friendly environment with other fellow cosplay enthusiasts!

Cyprus Comic Con is a non-profit organisation which celebrates comic book influenced art and culture in Cyprus, with plans to expand and also form collaborations within all surrounding regions (Europe, Middle East, Asia).

This year’s event will take place at Filoxenia Conference Centre in Nicosia on September 3rd & 4th 2016, from 10:00-19:00 and 10:00-20:00 respectively.

Last year’s event was an unparalleled success, exceeding all expectations with over eight thousand people attending! This year, Cyprus Comic Con will be expanding even further, taking advantage of the entire Filoxenia Conference Centre and aiming to maintain the momentum and excitement of last year’s event, by introducing even more activities, panels, special guests and other particulars.

Announcing new PopGen Asia section @CCC’16!

POPGEN-ASIA (1)Cyprus Comic Con is proud to announce PopGen Asia, a brand new area within the convention dedicated to Japanese, Korean & Asian culture. Short for Pop Generation Asia, this new zone will be hosting an array of shops, music, art, community groups, and more!

Taking into consideration the growing appreciation and global popularity of Asian culture, Cyprus Comic Con has decided to create a special area for fans of Anime, Manga, Asian music, food, cinema, fashion, etc to hang out and also meet like-minded individuals! So if you are looking to meet more Asian culture geeks, put on your Pikachu onesie or that pair of nekomimi cat ears and join the fun!

For those of you new to the Asian pop culture scene, be sure to keep your eyes and ears open because PopGen Asia will be packed with vibrant colours and sounds! You can expect to see fans dressed like their favourite J-pop or K-pop idol, anime cosplay, music and dancing, as well as some beautiful fan art and crafts. As for those of you with a sweet tooth, yummy and delicious Japanese sweets and other Asian snacks will be available for sale at some of the stalls throughout the section!

Cosplay Workshops 2016

cosplay (1)We are thrilled to announce that the Cyprus Comic Con Cosplay team will be holding weekly cosplay workshops involving demonstrations, lectures, hands-on crafting and costume advice.

The workshops will be taught by the community’s top cosplayers: high scorers in past Cyprus Comic Con cosplay competitions and local professionals. You will learn how to plan, craft, style and wear a cosplay costume from scratch (specifically, your CCC16 costume) alongside like-minded people.

We will be holding the workshops every Saturday, mostly in Nicosia with a couple happening in Limassol. Taking part is completely free!

The applications for CCC2016 are finally open!

The biggest geek culture event that Cyprus has to offer is taking place at Filoxenia Conference Centre in Nicosia for the second consecutive year. If you haven’t already, mark down the dates on your calendar because the first weekend of September (Sat 3rd & Sun 4th) is going to be an unforgettable experience you don’t want to miss!

Special guests of international calibre from all aspects of pop culture, local and global artists, stores, bazaar with nerdy collectibles and crafts, community groups, gaming tournaments, cosplay competitions, the CCC Film Festival, as well as live music and a buzzing afterparty, are only some of the features that make up Cyprus Comic Con and YOU can be part of it!
