CAA LogoThe Cyprus Academy of Art is a specialist tertiary Art & Design College based in Limassol, Cyprus; A multicultural educational environment with students from Cyprus, UK, Russia, Middle East, Canada etc.

For over 20 years the CAA has been training & preparing aspiring creatives from all over the world for careers in disciplines such as: Animation, Fine Art, Architecture, Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fashion Design, Photography, Film, Cinematography, Game Design, Concept Art, Product Design amongst many others. The CAA’s British Trained Academic staff have significant experience in Art Education & Professional Practice whilst also being active creative practitioners in the disciplines they teach. Lecturers teaching at British Universities have assisted in the formation of the accredited academic curriculum which follows the British education system.

Artist Profile: Kyprianos M. Demosthenous

The next Featured Artist to showcase their talent at this year’s Comic Con is 3d artist Kyprianos M. Demosthenous.

Kyprianos Demosthenous is 20 years old and lives in Engomi, Nicosia. He graduated from Pascal English School two years ago, completed his National Service and this coming September he will begin studying Architecture at the University of the Creative Arts in England.

Design, modeling and 3D crafting have been his favourite hobbies since a very young age. He always enjoys practicing his creative hobbies and wishes to continue to do so for the rest of his life. For that reason, Kyprianos could never imagine himself to be studying or working on something other than these subjects, that will give him the opportunity to continue creating as a professional in the future.

Some of the projects he has created have been exhibited and can be found at Saatchi Gallery, in England. Furthermore, he has participated in the worldwide competition of F1 in Schools as the designer of a car applying the aerodynamic principles and designing his team logo. His team’s model won first place in Cyprus and travelled to Austin Texas were they competed with the rest of the first-place winning teams from other countries. Kyprianos’ team received 13th place out of 32 that took part in the competition.

Kyprianos won an International Award for obtaining Full Marks in Art “A” Level in 2014 and also achieved the Highest Mark in Art subject in his school as a senior student. Taking advantage of the passion he had for crafting, during his National Service in a competition organized by the Army of Cyprus and Holy Archbishopric of Cyprus with the topic of ‘fighting against drugs’, he won first prize for a craft he made amongst thousands of other projects.

Featured Participant: Escape the Room

There will be a special mini escape room at CCC for you to try out.

What exactly is ‘Escape the Room’?

The concept of escaping from a locked room originated from a number of video games in the late 1990’s. The player would find himself locked in a given room and by finding clues, solving puzzles and by using different objects along the way he would eventually make his way out to freedom. This idea has since evolved and over the past few years has turned these video games into a real-life concept. Escape the Room currently offers three uniquely themed rooms for you and your friends to experience and test your reasoning and logic.

Let’s talk about food!

fringeThe team of Cyprus Comic Con has made sure to satisfy your appetite during the two days of the event! We have secured some great quality food vendors to sell delicious food and refreshing drinks in the outdoor Fringe Festival area, offering a variety of different foods, from pizza and traditional souvlaki and sandwiches to crepes and ice cream!

Please note however that food is prohibited inside the halls so make sure you enjoy your meals outside the premises!

Our Fringe Festival’s food vendors are:

  • Pizza Hut – will offer all pizza combinations from their menu, as well as their tasty goodies from Wing Street!
  • Serial Griller – will serve mostly grilled tastes such as burgers, hot dogs etc.
  • Sir Franjolaki – Sir Franjolaki will serve warm and cold sandwiches, souvlaki in pita etc.
  • Crepart – Will serve sweet and savory crepes
  • Coffeeshop – Will serve all kinds of coffee and savories such as cheese pies, spinach pies etc.
  • Παγωταρία – Will serve ice cream during the hottest time of day!

 

Artist Profile: Chrysso Vassiliou

Chrysso Vassiliou is returning to Cyprus Comic Con as one of our Featured Artists!

Chrysso Vassiliou, (also known as “Chryssv”) is a young self taught freelance artist. She had always loved art but her true passioned awakened about 2-3 years ago, when she started learning digital painting. She loves video games, movies and comics. She is inspired by both eastern(anime/manga) and western cartoons, both 2d and 3d. She has been accepting freelance commissions for the past 2 years, and has been selling her artwork online and showcased her work at several events, including Cyprus Comic Con, Malta Comic Con and Japan Expo!
