Two of the videogame tournaments that will be taking place at this year’s Comic Con are the 1v1 League of Legends and the PES 2016 1v1 tournaments, both organised by Gosu Net Gaming Spot!

Constantinos Hadjidemetri

Meet our next Featured Artist for CCC16, talented illustrator Constantinos Hadjidemetri.

Constantinos received his BA in fine arts from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma (Fine arts Accademy of Rome) in 2006. The same year he moved to Perugia where he studied a six-month intensive course of Italian language and culture at Universita per Stranieri di Perugia and by the end of that year, he temporarily moved to Cyprus. There, he participated at the first organised short film festival Ideodromio, in his hometown Limassol and later at the Short Film & Documentary Festival of Cyprus, in the categories of Short film and Animation and Student Fiction Film.

During 2006 and 2008 he has worked as a freelance illustrator and animator for the Eagle Casino Games and prepared a new short film for the Intransition exhibition at the National Centers for Contemporary Arts of Ekaterinburg and Moscow. During that period he also participated with a painting in The Red Cross Summer Exhibition at The Hague. Moving then to Spain, he undertook a postgraduate program in 2D & 3D Animation at Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) and received his Masters in 2009. After his graduation he begun to work as a freelancer for various clients such as V5 & Cleanenergy in Barcelona, Tsiakkas Wineries and Gevorest in Cyprus. During the years 2013-16, he worked as an illustrator and animator at ZEDEM Media, a company specializing in educational video. Working under the label of ZEDEM, he created designs for companies such as ‘The School of Life’ and ‘TEDed’.

Cyprus Comic Con has the honour of announcing multi-talented artist Gilbert Simon as one of its Special Guests for this year’s convention!

The Artist

Hailing from Beirut, Lebanese Franco-Armenian artist Gilbert Simon is known for being a semi-finalist on the 8th season of the middle eastern version of talent show ‘Star Academy’. He is a writer, composer and music producer as well a cartoonist, a voice-over artist and actor. 

He is the creator and Father of  “Mwet©” and is currently working on the very 1st comic book project for the character, entitled “Mwet and the Seagulls” in both English and French, with an internationally humorous and adventurous spirit, suitable for all ages. The comic book is expected to be released sometime in 2017.

The Cover Art for ‘Asterix and the Picts’

‘Asterix and the Picts’ is the 35th book in the Asterix Series, and is the first book to be written by someone other than René Goscinny or Albert Uderzo.

It was written by Jean-Yves Ferri and illustrated by Didier Conrad, with the 1st prize winning Limited Edition Cover created and imagined by Gilbert Simon, chosen by Albert Uderzo himself!

Alexander Tellalis

Talented illustrator and concept artist Alexander Tellalis will be returning to Cyprus Comic Con as one of our Featured Artists!

Alexander has been ‘painting’ digitally since 2013. Some art related interests of his include (but are not limited to) life drawing / plein air, art history, illustration, graphic / concept design, traditional painting and sculpture, matte painting, 3d and 2d animation , story/moodboarding, film.

At present, Alexander is working on a variety of projects both commercial and personal. In his spare time he enjoys long walks on the beach and generally being an outstanding member of the community. For more info either approach him in real-life or here via the interwebs!
