Behind the Scenes of CCC17’s Trailer Shoot!

Today we are giving you a sneak peek behind the scenes of the trailer shoot for Cyprus Comic Con 2017, featuring – oh, um… what looks like some rather shady characters!

It seems that we are in some sort of bar, but it’s been completely overrun by villains!
Just where did all the superheroes go?! We need help!

What on earth is going on here?! Someone activate the Bat Signal!

Are those our blueprints?! But how in the world did these villains get their hands on them?
Just look at them – heavily drinking and laughing viciously! They must be up to no good!

Good heavens! I knew we should have renewed Thor‘s contract for one more year…
Even the director seems fed up with their shenanigans! Put that lightsaber down young man, um I mean Kylo, sir.

Well we are not entirely sure what is going on in these photos, but we know that this year’s Cyprus Comic Con trailer will be criminally good! No? Too much? Okay, okay, I will stop there – just wait to see the trailer when it comes out later next month!

Cosplay 2017

Cosplay

Cosplay, or Costume Play is the act of dressing up and acting as a character from pop culture including cartoons, anime, manga, comics, video games, movies or TV. Many cosplayers hand-make their own costumes so they accurately resemble the characters while others purchase readily-made ones for the fun. Cyprus Comic Con receives a large number of cosplayers every year who can enter the convention free of charge, get to meet professional cosplayers from abroad, take professional photos at a photo-booth and compete to win grand prizes.

Cosplay Contests

Cyprus Comic Con holds two contests during the weekend of the event. They are craftsmanship oriented and cater to all levels of cosplay experience ranging from beginners to those more proficient. Cosplayers with hand-made or partly hand-made costumes can participate in the following contests, as long as they can meet the contest requirements and criteria.

It is only permitted to participate in both contests if using a different costume for each one.

        Artist Profile: John ‘Epsilon’ Ermidis

Cyprus Comic Con welcomes talented illustrator and graffiti artist John Ermidis to this year’s Artists’ Alley!

John Ermidis, aka Epsilon, was born in Athens, where he is still based to this day. He graduated from Ornerakis School of Applied Arts and currently works as a freelance graphic designer, while he dedicates his spare time to drawing comics and illustrations, as well as graffiti art.

At Comicdom Con Athens 2013, John collaborated with artist Gemo (a good friend and colleague) and self-published their first fanzine, starring 3 bad-ass unicorn characters (!), called “The Abominates”. In 2015, Epsilon presented two personal projects, titled “Doodles Inside my Head #1”, and “Zu & Zuni: Zuzu’s Rescue #1“. More recently, at Comicdom Con 2017, Epsilon and Gemo released the second part of their collaborative fanzine, The Abominates, with the title “Worse Than Hell”.

If you are curious to see more of Epsilon’s work, make sure to check him our on Behance and Facebook!

        Artist Profile: Leonidas Stivaktis

We welcome back another returning artist to Cyprus Comic Con 2017 – Greek illustrator Leonidas Stivaktis!

Leonidas recalls himself drawing ever since he was able to hold a pencil and has been working professionally as an illustrator since the age of  seventeen. He studied comics and illustration in Ornerakis School of Applied Arts, as well as creative writing in the Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since 2013, Leonidas has been self-publishing his own comics since 2013, splitting his time between that and freelance comic, illustration and concept work.

Leonidas’ work is mainly driven by real life issues, given through fantasy and humor. His most recent project he completed in 2017 is inspired by Greek folklore of the latest centuries, as well as pop queer culture. His goals for the future are to explore ignored parts of Greek folklore even more and to focus on concept art and comics longer and more challenging than the ones he has produced so far!

To see more of Leonidas’ illustrations, visit his website and Facebook page. Make sure to also check out his online shop on Etsy for his original comics and stickers!
