Last Saturday 28 May, the third cosplay workshop took place at The Beauty Parlour makeup studio in Strovolos, Nicosia. Our aspiring cosplayers attended a bespoke, full-day makeup masterclass by local professional makeup artist, Crystal Michael.
The workshop started off with some useful cosplay makeup tips as well as an introduction to various tools and products, which was then followed by the makeup demonstrations. Crystal showed how to conceal eyebrows with spirit gum and redraw them again in a different shape, as well as how to make the eyes appear bigger using makeup – ideal for those wanting to cosplay as anime or manga characters!
Lastly, the final demonstration included creating scars for cosplaying the character of Geralt of Rivia (from the popular action RPG The Witcher!) using basic special effects and detailed face painting, to transform the face and make it look like the fictional character’s.
A big thank you to Natalie and Nicholas for agreeing to be our models for the day!
Workshops postponed
As it is currently exam season still, the cosplay workshops will be postponed for the following couple of weeks and will resume again on Saturday, June 18. Preparations for the next workshop are under way, so keep an eye out for the announcement with all the details!
We want as many of you to be able to attend these workshops because they are specially designed to help you with all aspects of cosplay, from the initial planning stages, to selecting the materials, crafting and designing the costume, to the final details and the character performance roleplay.
If you plan on cosplaying at CCC’16 and you are new to crafting or just need some advice for making your costume, then you definitely can’t miss these workshops! Most of all, they are completely free to attend and you can have some fun meeting other cosplayers and learning all about the amazing art of cosplay!
